We hear from customers all the time about how much they love our elk meat. Some people who aren’t familiar with this delicious and unique meat are worried that it’ll taste gamey. In fact, we get this question about many of the incredible meats that we offer. The truth is, most people who have had meat that was gamey in flavor were eating animals that had not been hunted or butchered with expertise. All of our meat offers incredible taste and tenderness that simply cannot be matched. In fact, our elk is sought after by chefs because of its delicate yet distinct flavor profile.

This meat is so naturally tender, there is no need to marinate it. It also requires a shorter cooking time because of the lower fat content of these essentially wild animals. We always recommend cooking our elk meat to rare or medium rare for best taste and texture.
Even if you usually cook beef to a higher temperature, chances are you will enjoy this meat cooked less due to these differences. With these things in mind, elk can be substituted for beef in any recipe. Once you get a taste for this delectable meat, you’ll never turn back. Our elk is completely free range, roaming freely on 20,000 to 100,000 acre ranches. We source from two locations, one being the Rocky Mountains of the United States. The other source that fit our strict quality standards was an elk ranch in the pristine mountain valleys of New Zealand.
They roam freely, grazing and foraging as they engage in all of their natural instinctive behaviors. As with all of our meat, these animals are never administered hormones, antibiotics or steroids of any kind. When you order meat online from quality butchers, you’ll be able to taste the difference.

Elk meat is extremely nutrient dense, containing high amounts of concentrated vitamins and minerals while being lean and low calorie. It’s very high in protein, at about 23 grams of protein per three-ounce serving. This makes it a great food for weight loss, since a high protein diet will naturally decrease food consumption and boost the metabolism. Elk contains highly beneficial amounts of zinc. This mineral strengthens immunity and neutralizes free radicals, which helps protect against many diseases including cancer.
Zinc has shown in studies to possibly be effective in preventing the common cold and other corona-viruses. It also plays an important role in the production of cytokines, which are vital proteins necessary for proper cellular function. This meat also provides the body with niacin and B vitamins especially B12 and B6. One serving of elk actually provides 100% of the daily requirement for B12, a nutrient which prevents anemia, helps brain function and lowers risk for many diseases. It provides small but nutritive amounts of folate, calcium and vitamin E.
