Holiday Turkey - Whole Bird

$79.99

100% Humanely Raised Turkey Whole Bird

Product Description: Introducing a delectable and succulent turkey hen, perfectly timed for your holiday feasts! Three size options available 12-14lbs, 16-18lbs and 20-24 lbs.

Serving Size: When planning your holiday turkey, a good rule of thumb is to budget about 1 to 1.5 pounds of turkey per guest, including the bones. For adults, think about 1.25 to 1.5 pounds each, while kids will usually be happy with around 0.75 to 1 pound. If you’re hoping for some tasty leftovers, just add an extra half to a full pound per person to be safe!

Storage: Our holiday turkeys are stored at 28 degrees, a temperature known as a deep chill. You might notice a light ice crust on the outside or that the liquid purge is frozen, but don’t worry—the turkey meat itself isn’t frozen! That’s because liquid and meat freeze at different temperatures. The USDA allows fresh poultry to be stored as low as 26 degrees. Just be sure to enjoy or freeze your turkey by Sunday, December 1st, to keep it fresh!

Cooking Tips: Our turkeys are not only gluten-free but also haven't undergone any pre-brining, soaking, injections, or marinades. We understand that many folks have cherished family recipes for preparing turkey during the holidays. If you're seeking some inspiration, consider following the steps below:

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F. Don't forget to remove the neck and giblets, which can be used for preparing turkey and stuffing.
  2. You can leave the plastic leg clamp on while cooking.
  3. Position your turkey on a rack in a shallow pan, breast side up, and gently cover it with foil. After one hour of cooking, remove the foil.
  4. Roast your turkey until the timer pops up, indicating it's fully cooked (approximately 3 hours). Ensure the internal temperature reaches 160-180°F, as measured by a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh. Always double-check the temperature with a thermometer, and the juices should run clear.
  5. Allow your turkey to rest for at least 20 minutes before serving.
  6. For maximum safety, cook the turkey and stuffing separately. If desired, you can add fully cooked stuffing to the turkey just before serving. Additionally, consider whether you'd like to brine, rub, or baste your turkey for added flavor.

Farming Practices: Our farmers prioritize nurturing natural behaviors in controlled environments, with the ultimate aim of raising healthy and wholesome birds. Rest assured, our birds enjoy cage-free living and are never administered hormones or steroids.
